Hello Mrs. Brown’s Class!

We are Mrs. Austin’s 2nd grade class in McGregor, Texas. We would like to tell you about our monster. His name is Flying Weird Monster. He is a big monster!

His head is large rectangle. It is about 14 inches tall and 22 inches wide. The right half of his head is yellow. The left side is black. The two colors meet in the middle of his rectangle head with a jagged line.

He has six eyes. They are circles made by tracing the bottom of a 12 oz Styrofoam cup on white construction paper. We cut out the circles and then drew a smaller black circle in the center of each one. He has three eyes on the left side of his head and 3 on the right side. Four of his eyes make a row across the top of his head. The other two eyes are under that row. It looks like the eyes make two triangles pointed down! He does not have ears or a nose!

Under his eyes, you will find Flying Weird Monster’s mouth. It is a black, football shaped mouth about 7 inches long. He has four pointy teeth made with triangles that have sides about 1 inch long. He has two teeth in the middle on the top of his mouth, and two teeth in the middle of the bottom of his mouth.

Flying Weird Monster’s body is a large brown oval. It is about 34 inches tall and 26 inches wide in the middle. His head is on the top of the oval.

He has two large black bat wings. There is one on each side of his body about where arms would normally be. His wings are about 25 inches long. They are curved on the top and sort of like waves on the bottom, just like a bat’s wings look.

He also has two legs. They are made of long skinny orange rectangles about 15 inches long and 2 inches wide. At the end of each leg are three toes, made of orange rectangles about 4 ½ inches long and 1 inch wide. His legs look like chicken legs!!! They are at the bottom of the oval.

Our monster also has a tail. It is a red squiggly tail made by cutting a curvy line out of red paper, kind of like a snake. At the end of the tail is a red triangle with sides about 2 inches long. It is pointed down. It is about 27 inches from his body to the end of his tail.

On top of our monster’s head are a hat and two horns. Right in the middle of the top of his head is a brown triangle about 8 ½ inches tall with sides a little less than 11 inches. It looks like a birthday hat. Across the top of the hat, right below the point, is a double-sided arrow made by a long skinny rectangle and two triangles. It is black.

On each side of the hat is one horn, made from white construction paper. They are curved up like a bull’s horns. From the top of his head to the top of his horns is about 12 inches.

Our monster is also wearing a tie. It is made from red construction paper. We cut a triangle with sides about 3 ½ inches long. Then we cut a tie shape and glued the triangle on the top of it. It is pointed just like a person’s tie. We glued the tie onto the body right at the middle of the bottom of the monster’s head. The tie is about 13 inches long.

As a finishing touch, we gave our monster a mustache. It is made of black yarn. We glued a piece of black yarn about 20 inches long between his eyes and his mouth. It is curled up on each end.

Flying Weird Monster is really tall. From the top of his horns to the bottom of his tail is 6 feet and 8 inches.

We made our monster by voting on all his different body parts. We used glue, bulletin board paper, construction paper, and one piece of yarn.

We hope you have fun making our Monster!!!!

Franky
Our monster's name is Franky.  He is made of a long skinny shoe box.  The top of his box has a large green square head made out of paper. His head is about 6"X8".  On his head, he has black hair, mean teeth, blood shot eyes, stitches on cheeks, mean eyebrows and a blue vein.   All of these features are drawn with marker.  The middle of the box is colored  with green marker.  Attached to the middle on each side are arms made of green paper.  Below his body are his pants made of blue paper.  Each pant leg has holes made with black marker.  Attached to each leg is a small brown boot.  This is our monster Frank!!!
