Classroom B: Willie Thomas III (Marlin, TX)

Our Monsters name: DOOM

Head:

First we drew a circle face on green construction paper and cut it out. Then we traced the face that we cut out onto another piece of green construction paper. We cut out the second face and stapled the two pieces together and stuffed newspaper in-between the two stapled pieces. Next we glued hair onto our monsters head that was made out of white string that was semi colored with black marker. The last thing we did was draw his eyes using yellow colored pencils and black colored pencil for the eyebrows and pupils. We drew a rectangle mouth with jagged yellow teeth and a red tong behind the teeth. On the right side of the face we placed a brown mole with hair coming out of it made out of string. We also had dripping blood out of his mouth drawn on with a red marker.

Body:

First take two shoe boxes and cut the tops off of them if they have top, and glue the rest of the shoe boxes together on their ends. After the glue has dried, to cream colored construction paper and glue it to the two shoe boxes to make its skin. For the neck, we cut out a hole in the top of the shoe box and taped a red plastic cup with the bottom of it sticking out to place the head on top of it. We also cut two holes on both sides of the shoe box where we will stick the arms into. We cut out circles using red construction paper to represent blood and glued it to the cream colored construction paper (or the skin). We took a black marker and drew scars and stitches on the body colored some white string red and glued it to the body as well to represent the guts. We made wings out of paper plates by cutting a paper plate in half and glue one half to the left side and glued the other half to the right side of the body.

Arms:

We took purple butcher paper and measured out 19 inches for the length of the arms. Make sure that you measure about 10 inches in width for both arms also. Place news paper in the middle of the butcher paper and roll the butcher paper up to make the arms. Make sure to tape the rolled up are together so that it will not come apart. Next we cut strings that were the length of one are and colored them red. We then cut pieces of string about 3 inches long and colored them red also. We glued the long pieces of string to the left are going down the length of the arm. Then we took the short pieces of string and glued them across the long pieces of string. The finished look should be a arm with red stitches on it.

Hands:

We traced a students hands on white paper and cut them out. The fingernails were made by cutting out little triangles form a red plastic cup and glued to the fingers. The last thing we did was glue the hands to the arms and stick the arms in the wholes that were cut out in the shoe box body.

Legs:

We took purple butcher paper and measured the same length for the legs as we did for the arms; 19 inches length and 10 inches in width.   Once again we put news paper in the center and rolled it up to make muscles in the legs. Next we cut some string the length of one leg and colored it red, then glued it to the right leg to make a cut. We made a bloody bone that sticks out the top of the leg to connect the right leg to the body. To make the bone, we drew a picture of a dog bone the length of a white piece of construction paper. Next we cut out the bone and colored one half of the bone red with a marker. Then we glued it to the leg. The feet were made the same way that we made the hands; we traced a students hand on black construction paper and then another on green paper. We cut out the hands and taped them to the bottom of the legs to make the feet. We attached the legs to the body with tape.
