We created our monster in two days during our math class. The top part of our monster has a large, cardboard triangle head. The point of the triangle is the top of his head. He has two small pieces of black yarn that create his eyebrows. His two eyes are manila construction paper cut into the shapes of diamonds. The pupils of his eyes are red with black lines in the middle of each one. On each cheek is a set of red stitches made out of red yarn. We formed his nose with two, small pieces of black yarn. His mouth is one long 6 inch piece of black yarn and has two upside down triangle teeth. This monster does not have any manners, and is sticking his green construction paper snake tongue out at you.
The neck was formed by one small styrofoam cup that is turned upside down and glued to a small Styrofoam plate. His head is resting on the bottom of the cup.
It takes one adult size shoe box to make his body. The box is covered with 6 pieces of black construction paper. On the front of the body there are two sets of stitches, one black set at the top and one red set at the bottom of his torso. He has four black ribs on his left side. On the right side of his body is one arm. A large hole needs to be cut into the shoe box. Stick one small hand cut out of Manila paper to the top of the cup. In order for the hand to stay in the cup green paper has to be wrapped to the bottom of the hand. You will need to color the cup green and the fingernails green and black. After you have created the right arm and hand you can create the left hand the same way and attach it the same way as the right. Our monster is also very hairy, he has red yarn all glued together in clumps on his right and left side and his back.
The right front side also contains his alligator tail. This tail is two long pieces of green construction paper with eight black triangles creating his spikes. Use a green marker to draw scales that cover his tail. His feet are two small Styrofoam plates glued to the bottom of the shoe box. This monster does not clean his toes because his toenails are black.
