Materials Needed:
Adult size shoe box
Small square Tissue box (top dispensing)
4 small red plastic cups
4 small white styrofoam cups
cotton balls
2 green pompoms
1 large purple pompom
orange bulletin board paper
brown bulletin board paper
orange, red, white, black, yellow and blue construction paper
white paint
Cover a shoe box with orange bulletin board paper. This will be the body of the monster (box should be standing vertically). Cut out 5 of each of the following shapes from construction paper: 1" blue circles, yellow triangles, black rectangles, and red squares and glue them randomly over the front of the body.
Cover a small square Kleenex tissue box with brown bulletin board paper. This will be the head of the monster. The eyes are approx. 1" green pompoms with large wiggly eyes glued to them. The nose is a larger purple pompom. For the mouth, cut a 4" x 1" rectangle from red construction paper. Glue on 4 white 1" triangles across the rectangle, pointing down. Glue cotton balls on the top of the head and about halfway down the sides and back for the monster's hair. Glue head to top end of body.
The monster's legs are made from red plastic cups. Each leg requires 2 cups. Glue the bottoms of 2 cups together for each leg. Coat the rim of the cup on one end with glue and glue to the bottom of the body. Repeat to make the other leg. Paint the bottoms of a child's feet white and have them step on black construction paper to make white footprints. When they are dry, cut them out and gllue or tape to the bottom of the legs to make the feet.
The arms are made from white styrofoam cups. They are glued together just the opposite of the lets. Two cups should be glued together at the rims, then the bottom of one glued to the side of the body. Repeat to make the other arm. Have one of your children trace around their hands on orange paper and cut them out. GLue or tape them to the ends of the arms.
Finished monster stands approx. 26" tall
Good luck!!
