Monster Match Directions
From Dana Roberson/Fairfield Elementary
Supplies needed:
·       Kelly green butcher block paper
·       Red, purple, pink and navy blue construction paper
·       Multi-colored (pastel-colored) yarn
·       Black marker
·       Glue
Head:
1.    Cut out an oval-shaped for the head. (7” long & 8 1/2 wide). Head will be glued to body with long end going upward.
2.    Eyes – Cut out 6 oval shaped eyes from red construction paper. The eyes are various sizes with the biggest eye being 2” long. The others are a bit smaller. Glue the largest eye in the middle of the top portion of the head. Each eye will have a black “pupil” drawn in the middle.
3.    Nose -  The nose is cut from darker sky-blue construction paper. It is triangular-shaped and is 2” at the bottom and 2” tall. Glue this below the 6 eyes in the center of the head.
4.    Mouth – The mouth is cut from a lighter pink construction paper.
It is cut in the shape of a half-circle 5 ½ “ long and 2 ½ “ wide. Take a blue marker and draw 6 pointed-shaped teeth along the top, close to, but not all the same exact size. Draw 4 pointed (triangular-shaped) teeth along the bottom somewhat in the middle. Leave a space with 2 on one side and 2 on the other. All teeth are colored in with that same blue marker.
Tongue – Use a pink marker to draw a tongue. Center it in the middle of the mouth placed coming down from the top of the mouth. It should be about 1 ½ “ long and 1 “ wide. Do not color it in. Have a short line coming up the tip of the tongue drawn from the bottom of the tongue.
5.     Ears -  Use the same pink construction paper to cut out ears. They should be rounded shaped with straight sides where they are glued on the head. Ex:         They should be 1 ½ by 1 ½ “ long. Glue these to the side of his head, centered.
6.    Horns – Use white printing paper to draw 2 horns. They are devil-shaped horns, 2” long and ½ “ wide. Color them solid with a purple marker.
7.    Hair – Cut about 2 sets of 27 strands of pastel-multi-colored yarn, each about 14 “ long. Place 27 strands on one side of the head and 27 strands on the other side, about 3 ½ “ apart. Take wide tape and wrap around the strands of yard to hold each set in a “bunch” together and then tape them as previously stated 3 ½ “ apart by the horns.
Body:
8.     Use the Kelly-green butcher block paper to cut out the body. The body will be shaped like a lion with it pointing to the left as you are looking at it. It will be 18 “ in width and 9 “ wide @ the tummy. It will have 4 short legs also pointing toward the left also shaped a bit like a lions. The legs are only 2” long and have dragon shaped feet with each foot having 3 pointed claws about 1 “ long. The claws are colored blue with a marker.
·       The students took a green marker and made squiggly lines along the tummy, bottom of the front, outside leg and one of the back outside legs. It was suppose to be fur.
9.     Tail -  The tail is also cut from the green butcher block paper. It is shaped like a lions tails that is curved up toward his back. It is about 17 “ long and the students took a black marker and drew lines at the tip of the tail like hair. The tail is glued to the back of the body up high on its bottom.

Hope this is okay.
