Our class built a monster. His name is Spider Monkey, and he is an awesome monster. First, our monster’s head has two horns at the top. The horns are red cylinders and 12 inches long. He has four black and red slanted eyes. His eyes are 2 inches long. He has arms on his head that are 10 inches long and 1 ½ inches wide . Two are on the side. One is on top. They are orange with red spots on them. (They are really suction cups like an octopus.) He has five pink circle mouths. His head is a rectangular prism. He has a sky blue triangle for a nose. His head is 2 feet long from horn and down. His head is dark blue.
Next, we made him a purple body with glittery squiggles and dots all over it that make him able to breath under water. His body is a rectangle. His body is 17 inches long and 9 inches wide. His arms have spikes on them. His spikes are three inches, and they are green and red. If you get poked by one of his spikes, you will get poisoned. His arms are 17 inches long. In addition, he has three black fingers on each arm.
Then, we gave him a straight, scorpion-like rainbow tail that helps him kill his prey. The end is bushy and pink with a blue ring. The bushy part is 11 ½ inches long. The tail itself is 24 ¼ inches long. The tail is made out of large cups.
Last, but not least he has four beefy legs. They are 1 foot long and 1 ft. 4 ½ inches wide. The legs have orange polka- dots on them, and they are small paper sacks stuffed with newspaper. He has big bear-like feet with yarn for hair. The hair is black, and the feet are white. They are 6 inches long and three inches wide. He has five toes on each foot.
Altogether our monster has nine legs and arms. He is 5 feet and 7 inches tall.
Not only does he look like a fearsome monster, but he has all different kinds of powers and abilities. He can rampage through different types of weather with his legs. He can live in different habitats. He can run really fast. Spider Monkey is the greatest monster we have ever seen in our lives. What do you think?

Materials Needed:
Orange, Black, Yellow and Red Construction paper
Red Bulletin Board Paper
Newspaper to use for stuffing
1 Large box with flaps (12inX4inX17in)
1 Small box (8inX4inX9in)
2 Paper plates
Black and tan yarn
Masking tape
One plastic cup
Markers for drawing on the Face
Stapler
Head
Cover the small shoebox with orange construction paper using glue. Draw googely eyes with red veins stemming out of the pupils. Draw an oval shaped mouth with four sharp teeth (2 on the bottom and 2 on top). Use black construction paper to create a small cone, nose that is about 4in long. Use black yarn for the hair and eyebrows. Tape two pieces of black construction paper together to create a large cone hat that is about 18in long. Cut off 1 inch around the top of the box, stuff the bottom of the hat into the top of the box so that it stays on the witch’s head.
Body
Cover the large box with black construction paper using glue. Turn the box so that it is a vertical rectangle. The flaps should open up like a shirt. Use orange construction paper to create six small buttons (1.5inX2in). Three buttons should be placed on each side in a vertical row. Use yellow construction paper to create a left and right lung. Stuff the insides with yarn and tape inside the box. Use red construction paper to create a small heart that fits in between the lungs. The flap should not be taped closed.
Wings & Arms
Draw four symmetrical wings on red bulletin board paper. The wings should be shaped like tacos and about the size of ½ of a student desk. Cut out the wings, lay two on top of each other and stuff them with newspaper. Use a stapler to close the edges. Do the same with the other two pieces. Use rolled up red bulletin board paper to create small arms. They should be about 24in long. Attach the arms to the top of the wings using tape. Use the plastic cup to create claws for the end of the arms and the edge of the wings.
Legs & Feet
Cut four strips (26inX4in) from red bulletin board paper to create the legs. Put newspaper in between 2 strips and glue the edges together. Do the same for the other two strips. Glue small pieces of tan yarn to both legs for the hair on the legs. Fold the paper plates in half to create feet and glue the edges together. Cut a rectangle that is the same width of the legs in the middle of each paper plate. Slide each leg into the rectangular hole you just cut in the paper plate and use tape to keep the legs and feet together.
Attaching the body parts
Place the head on top of the body and use tape to keep it in place. Use masking tape to attach the wings to the back of the body. Cut holes at the bottom of the body to attach the legs. Open the flaps, pull the top of the legs through and use tape to hold the legs in place.
Good luck creating our Monster! We will see you very soon.
