  1. Take a shoe box with dimensions of 12 in. x 6.5 in. and cover with aluminum foil.  Tape foil to box.
  2. This is a two-headed monster.  For each head, take a small foam plate and tape 2 popsicle sticks (10 ½ cm. Long) to bottom of plate.  One in front and match the other in the back.  Tape to plate.
  3. For eyes, take two cotton balls and glue to the front of the plate.  Do the same for the other head.
  4. For antennae, take a blue, silver, and gold pipe cleaner.  Twist ½ way up and then spread out the other half to look like a “w”.  Make 2 of these.  Tape each one to the back of one plate.
  5. Take a book binding comb, cut it in ½.  Stick each one into one plate in the nose position.  It will look like Pinnochio.
  6. Take a red pipe cleaner, cut in ½ and make into a curved smile.  Tape onto one plate.  Do the same for the other plate.
  7. Take a gold pipe cleaner and bend into triangles for teeth.  Tape below the mouth on one plate.

  9. Take 6 silver and 8 gold pipe cleaners.  Put all silver on one side with 2 of the gold and the other 6 gold on the other side.  Tie in the middle with the blue pipe cleaner.  Twist the blue pipe cleaner around.  Tape to the top front of one head.
  10. Take 5 red pipe cleaners and cut 2 inches off.  Tape to top front of the other head.
  11. For glasses, take 3 green pipe cleaners.  Take 1 and make into a circle and then take 1 to make another circle.  Twist the two circles together . Take the last 1 and cut in ½.  Twist ½ to one circle and the other ½ to the other circle to finish making frames.  Tape to one head.
  12. For other pair of glasses, take 2 green and one blue pipe cleaner.  Take blue and make into circles.  Take 1 green and fold in ½.  Put green pipe cleaner through one circle and curve end.  Do the same with the other green.  Take 1 gold pipe cleaner and twist around middle of glasses.  Tape to other head.
  13. The plate with red hair need ¼ of a red pipe cleaner for eyebrows.  Tape above eyes.
  14. Poke 4 holes into top of box when it is standing length-wise up.  Stick Popsicle sticks from head into holes.
  15. Tape a ruler to back of heads and the back of the box to support the heads.
  16. Take 2 blue pipe cleaners and 2 gold.  Take strips of aluminum foil.  Take 4 cotton balls.  Wrap foil around the pipe cleaners.  Poke each pipe cleaner into a cotton ball.
  17. Twist the bottoms of the blue pipe cleaners together.

Classroom B: Jamie McGlone (Kerens, TX)

1.      Here are the materials you will need:

·       7 Shoeboxes

·       Newspaper

·       Pink & red yarn

·       Styrofoam cup (small)

·       Construction paper

·       GLUE

·       Small paper cups

·       Scissors

·       Butcher paper (green)

2.      The head is made out of a shoebox covered with green construction paper.  We cut triangles out of red, black, and green construction paper and put it all together around the top of the head for spiked hair.  Cut three bottoms out of small paper cups and color two black and one red.  The two black are for the eyes and the red is the third eye at the top.  Cut black eyebrows to accent the eyes.  The nose is black and white construction paper cut into an upside down house (or pentagon).  The mouth is a black rectangle with sharp triangular white teeth, except for the two red triangular fangs on top.

3.      The upper body is made from two shoeboxes that are covered in green butcher paper.  The small arms are made from rolled up newspaper covered in green butcher paper (attached at the shoulder).  There is a pointed part at the end of the arm made from black and red construction paper but there are no fingers.  We also cut bat wings from black construction paper and attached those behind the arms (attached on the back).  The monster is sporting a black vest with a blue octagonal pattern covering the front (made from construction paper).

4.      The head is attached to the body by a white Styrofoam cup (as the neck).

5.      Each leg is made from a shoebox covered in green butcher paper.  We attached those to the bottom of the body.  We made blue pants to put onto the legs.  There is a black spider on the leg of the pants.

6.      Each foot is a shoebox covered in green butcher paper with toes made from rolled newspaper and green butcher paper with yellow toenails.  We attached these to the bottom of the legs.
